frequency adverbs

The position of frequency adverbs

A frequency adverb describes how often an action occurs. There are six main frequency adverbs that we use in English:

  •  always
  •  usually (or normally)
  •  often
  •  sometimes
  • rarely
  •  never.

Was, were

The words WAS and WERE correspond to the past conjugation of the verb TO BE (AM, ARE, IS), this complies with the following rules for its use:

We use WAS for the past tense of the verb SER/ESTAR (To Be) of the first person of the singular (I) and the third persons of the singular (He, She, It).

We use WERE when conjugating the verb SER/ESTAR (To Be) for the second person of the singular (You) and the first, second and third persons of the plural (We, You, They)

Superlative adjective

they are formed with the adjective in the superlative degree, that is, those ending in -est, which have the adverbial structure the most/the least (the most/the least) or the irregular ones that have their own superlative degree, for example, the best (the best) or the worst (the worst). If the adjective ends in -y (it doesn't matter if it has one or more syllables), we must change the -y to -i and add -est. Examples: -Happy (happy): The happiest (he happiest) -Funny (funny): The funniest (the funniest) Examples: › We are the happiest children in the world. /We are the happiest children in the world. › He's the funniest comedian in town. /He's the funniest comedian in town. 2. If the adjective has only one syllable, it is necessary to add -est to the end of the adjective, like this: -Short (short or low in stature): The shortest (the shortest) -Tall (high): The tallest (the highest) -Long (long): The longest (the longest) Example: › He is the shortest student in the class...
